Student found with gun at Minneapolis high school

Minneapolis school district officials say a student brought a gun to a school earlier this week.

The weapon was found at Patrick Henry High School after a student told an adult at the school about it, according to Minneapolis Public Schools Interim Superintendent Michael Goar.

The gun was not loaded.

Goar declined to discuss details of the incident, but says it shows that students are willing to work with staff to make the school safe.

"That's just an example of our relationship that we built with our students," Goar said. "And I think that's a positive thing that's going on in this school."

A loaded gun was found in a student's backpack at St. Paul's Harding High School last week.
