Suspect killed, officer hurt in central Minnesota shooting

Authorities are investigating after a suspect was shot and killed by law enforcement in central Minnesota.

The Hutchinson Police Department says officers from several agencies were responding to a report of a verbal disturbance at a residence in Hutchinson about 4:15 p.m. Sunday when a struggle ensued between the suspect and officers. The suspect was fatally shot and pronounced dead at the scene.

A Hutchinson police officer was shot in the leg and is expected to recover.

The names of the victim and officers involved in the shooting haven't been released. The police department says some officers will be placed on administrative leave pending a routine investigation.

The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the incident.
