The four favorites leading the school board ballot in St. Paul this year carry the endorsement of the DFL party, from an April convention, as well as a movement of parents and the St. Paul Federation of Teachers, the district's main labor union. 

Voters poised to remake St. Paul school board as worries mount

• Zuki Ellis, a parent and parent trainer affiliated with the SPFT.

• Steve Marchese, a parent and attorney with the state bar association's pro bono program.

• Jon Schumacher, executive director of the Saint Anthony Park Community Foundation.

• Mary Vanderwert, a former Head Start program director and now children's oral health outreach worker.

• Incumbent Keith Hardy, currently vice chair of the school board.

• Aaron Anthony Benner, a former teacher in the district.

• Greg Copeland, former Maplewood city manager. 

 Black Lives Matter St. Paul organizer, is running as a write-in candidate.
