This week on Art Hounds: Mizna's Arab Film Fest, All Souls Night in Duluth and an "Ode to Harmony."

Duluth writer Sarah K Sawyer will be honoring her ancestors tomorrow night at All Souls Night at The Depot. The evening brings together many different global traditions surrounding grieving loved ones, including Dia de los Muertos. Sawyer says there will be face painting, spoken word, and a Funeral March for Rotten Ideas featuring music by the Brass Messengers.

Sarah Peters, creator of the Floating Library, is heading to Mizna's 10th annual Arab Film Festival and she recommends you check it out, too. This year there's a focus on films about Palestine, and Peters says with so many negative portrayals of Palestinians in the media, she thinks it's important to see their stories told in their own voices. The festival runs Thursday through Sunday at St. Anthony Main and the Walker Art Center.

Raveesh Shenoy is a scientist for 3M, but his wife is a classically trained Indian singer, and together they've been attending many cultural events around the Twin Cities. He's particularly looking forward to "Om Shanti: Ode to Harmony," a musical and dance performance that brings together groups from several different cultural backgrounds to promote universal peace. It takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Capri Theater in Minneapolis.
