Best Buy is joining the ranks of retailers revealing their Black Friday shopping plans.

The Twin Cities-based retailer announced Tuesday that it will open its doors at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day — and it's already making some of its Black Friday deals available online.

Target has also announced its plans for the shopping day, with doors opening at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving. It plans to keep stores open until 11 p.m. or midnight the next day.

Besides the early Thanksgiving opening — a move made by Target and other retailers last year, Target said it will introduce a "10 Days of Deals" promotion, discounting electronics, kitchenware, toys and other items from Nov. 22 through Dec. 1.

Outdoor retailer Recreational Equipment, Inc., known as REI, has gone in the opposite direction, announcing it will buck Black Friday and close its 143 stores on the Friday after Thanksgiving.

The Kent, Wash.-based co-op told members the plan in an email, saying instead of working they'll pay their employees on Nov. 27 to be outside.
