Ellison on Syrian refugees, ISIS recruitment in MN after Paris attacks

The Paris attacks have put the spotlight once again on terror recruitment in Minnesota. The state leads the country in the number of people trying to fight for ISIS, according to a congressional report released earlier this fall.

Many wonder whether recruitment activity here leaves the state more vulnerable to attack.

The Paris attacks have also led to several governors opposing the resettlement of Syrian refugees in their states over security concerns. Gov. Mark Dayton doesn't object to accepting refugees in Minnesota, as long as they undergo rigorous screening first.

MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with DFL Rep. Keith Ellison, who represents Minnesota's 5th District, including Minneapolis and the surrounding suburbs.
