2 hockey players plead guilty in Minnesota sex tape case

Two junior hockey players will serve jail time after pleading guilty to making a sex video with a teenage girl in Moorhead, Minn.

Thomas Carey and Brandon Smith each pleaded guilty Tuesday to three felony charges.

A plea agreement calls for Carey and Smith to spend 30 days in jail, have no contact with the victim, undergo a sex offender evaluation and pay $2,000 in court costs. KFGO-AM reports the men will be on supervised probation for 10 years, but will not be required to register as sex offenders.

Judge Michael Fritz allowed both men to begin their jail sentences Tuesday.

Carey and Smith were accused of filming a sex video with a 15-year-old girl in a Moorhead hotel last year when they were both 19. Both players later were suspended indefinitely from the U.S. Hockey League's Lincoln Stars.
