Arrest made in fatal hit and run in Minneapolis

Police have made an arrest in a fatal New Year's Eve hit and run.

Authorities say Aisha Freels was crossing Lyndale Avenue North in Minneapolis to catch a cab when a vehicle struck her and fled.

Officers found the 37-year-old woman dead in the street.

Police spokesperson John Elder says officers canvassed the area for leads, and homicide investigators spent the weekend working on the case.

Elder says information called in to the MPD's tipline and Crime Stoppers was helpful.

He says investigators located the suspect vehicle and arrested a person associated with it.
