Minnesota meat company recalls 89K pounds of beef

A Minnesota meat company is recalling some beef products that may be contaminated with wood.

Huisken Meat Company of Sauk Rapids is recalling about 89,000 pounds of beef. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall Monday.

The Sam's Choice Black Angus Vidalia Onion items were produced between Nov. 19 and Dec. 9. The recall involves 2-pound boxes containing six pieces of "Sam's Choice Black Angus Beef Patties with 19 percent Vidalia Onion" with by-use dates of May 17, May 29 and June 6, 2016.

The items were shipped nationwide. The wood originated with an incoming ingredient and was discovered during production.

No illnesses have been reported. Customers who bought the product should throw it away or return it to where they bought it.
