Dangerous cold settles in for Minnesotans
Bitter cold temperatures and dangerous wind chills are keeping Minnesotans in the deep freeze for a third day.
The National Weather Service issued a wind chill advisory until noon Monday for a southern and central Minnesota where the wind will make it feel like 25 to 35 below zero. That was close to the actual temperature in northeastern Minnesota early Monday. It was 24 below at Hibbing and Ely and the wind chill was 40 below.
Some schools that weren't closed for Martin Luther King Day canceled or delayed the start of classes because of the bitter cold.
Forecasters are expected temperatures to return to the 20s later this week.
