The Cactus Blossoms may already be a familiar sound to music fans around the Twin Cities, but the duo is hoping their debut album catches on with listeners near and far. The old school country-infused band has played many a night at St. Paul's Turf Club, and traveled the country opening for singer JD McPherson.

The Minneapolis-based brothers behind the band, Page Burkum and Jack Torrey, joined MPR News host Tom Weber to play a few songs from the new album, "You're Dreaming," and discuss their musical development.

The two cite country songs from before 1960 as a formative influence, as well as Minnesota's favorite musical son, Bob Dylan.
