South American emperor tamarin twins born last week are now on display at Como Zoo.

Zoo staff think the pair includes one male and one female, although it can sometimes take weeks to determine gender. The twins were born on Jan. 27 to Lara and Roger, who previously had another baby.

Tamarin infants are usually carried on their father's back for their first two months of life. The father also provides most of the care for the infants, which weigh only about 40 grams right now. At full size, the mustachioed primates will only weigh about 1 pound.

The zoo is planning a number of events around the twins' birth from Feb.13-15, which will include a chance to submit possible names for the infants.

There are only about 30 emperor tamarins in zoos nationwide.
