St. Paul youth give officials opinions on new police chief

St. Paul officials are getting the opinions of young people as they search for the next police chief.

On Wednesday night, Mayor Chris Coleman and Council President Russ Stark met with teens to hear what they're looking for in the next chief. The forum was organized by St. Paul mentors who asked the kids they work with to weigh in on their experiences with police.

The city has a 32-member selection committee. They hope to have five finalists by next month and a chief selected by May. Current Chief Thomas Smith plans to retire sometime this spring.
