Police say a domestic dispute ended with two people dead in Plymouth Friday night. A woman was killed at a busy traffic intersection and a man later died in a shoot-out with police.

Police were called to the intersection of Rockford Road and Northwest Boulevard in Plymouth around 9:15 p.m. Friday. A witness said it appeared that the driver of an SUV shot at a woman several times, struck her with the vehicle and then fled the scene.

Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek says the suspect then drove to a nearby apartment complex where he'd lived with the woman.

"He then he went home for additional weapons and ammunition; he appeared as though he would continue his rampage. We know that the suspect also fired at officers and the officers returned fire," Stanek said.

Three Plymouth police officers were involved in the shoot-out and have been put on paid administrative leave, which is standard in these cases. Two officers suffered minor injuries.

The investigation has been turned over to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department.

The Hennepin County medical examiner's office will release the names of the victim and suspect after autopsies are completed.
