You've heard about job satisfaction surveys that rank teachers as very unsatisfied with their jobs. Those numbers are actually a lot more nuanced than the news sometimes suggests.

How to make schools a great place to work is something Nathan Eklund thinks about a lot. He was a teacher in the Twin Cities metro for more than a decade before turning to consulting work with several school districts across the state and country. He doesn't get into which curriculum or textbook to use, or when to offer which class. He focuses on the work environment inside the school building. He's also surveyed thousands of teachers and administrators. He's the author of, "How Was Your Day at School?: Improving Dialogue about Teacher Job Satisfaction."
