One of the University of Minnesota's highest level administrators, Pam Wheelock, will resign Aug. 15.

In an email sent to University faculty and administration Tuesday evening, U President Eric Kaler says Wheelock, the vice president for University Services, notified him of her intention to resign.

"Pam determined that the restructuring would not leave her with a role that fits her professional goals and leadership needs," Kaler wrote.

Kaler announced a plan to restructure his administration in February. Under the plan, Wheelock's position would have fallen under a new position titled senior vice president for finance and operations. Currently, Wheelock reports directly to Kaler.

The Board of Regents will vote on the leadership change at the end of this month.

Kaler said Wheelock has given enough notice that they'll first search for a senior vice president for finance and operations before replacing her position.

Wheelock was hired in August 2012.
