Authorities ID man killed in daytime drive-by shooting in Minneapolis

Authorities have identified the man killed in a daytime drive-by shooting over the weekend in Minneapolis as Derrick Jamal Mack of Brooklyn Park.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner said the 18-year-old died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Minneapolis police say Mack was walking east on 39th Avenue North near Colfax Avenue just before noon Saturday, when someone shot at him from a white car. Mack ran into an alley where he collapsed and died.

Officers found him dead when they arrived at the scene.

Police spokesman John Elder says the investigation is still underway and no arrests have been made.

He says police are still trying to find the white car, and they're urging anyone with information to come forward.
