Lawmakers return from Easter break with Real ID on the agenda

The Minnesota House is set to pass a Real ID bill Tuesday, when lawmakers return from their Easter weekend break and begin the fourth week of the 2016 session.

Legislative leaders had promised quick action on the measure, which is needed to move the state toward compliance with new federal requirements for driver's licenses.

They also promised quick action on an extension of unemployment benefits for laid-off Iron Range workers, but it took three weeks of partisan arguing to get that resolved.

Cathy Wurzer spoke with MPR News reporter Tim Pugmire for an update on the session that's now a third of the way complete.
