World's Most Dangerous Polka Band says goodbye to Nye's
Today's Morning Edition music is from the song "In Heaven There is No Beer" by the World's Most Dangerous Polka Band, recorded live at Nye's Polonaise Room in Minneapolis.
They have been a fixture at Nye's for years and will be performing there all weekend. But that will be it.
Nye's is closing after last call on Sunday.
It has been an institution in northeast Minneapolis since 1950. Ten years ago, Esquire magazine called it the best bar in America.
It will be replaced by a six-story apartment and retail complex.
