Man struck by Amtrak train in Fargo

Police said a man was struck by an Amtrak train as it was arriving in Fargo early Sunday morning.

The man was on or near the tracks when he was hit, police said.

Sgt. Mike Erbes said the man was conscious and talking when emergency crews arrived, and was taken to a local hospital.

"It's probably a good time to remind folks that any time you're near one of those train crossings — whether you're on foot or in a car or on your bike — the train almost always wins that confrontation, so you have to be very careful," Erbes said.

An Amtrak spokesperson said the train was delayed about an hour. No passengers or crew members were injured.
