The Twins home opener brought fans bundled up to meet the challenge of a cold, windy start to the baseball season Monday.

The day began with breakfast on the plaza, where the temperature was below freezing.

When it became time for baseball at Target Field, it was a balmy 42 degrees with mere 18 mph winds.

Twins Hall of Famer Rod Carew threw out the first pitch, and the home season of baseball began.
