St. Paul Police are investigating after two people were shot and wounded Monday afternoon in the Summit-University neighborhood.

Authorities say they responded to a 1:30 p.m. call that shots were fired near Central Avenue and St. Albans Street.

St. Paul Police spokesperson Steve Linders said one victim was shot in the side, the other in the leg. They were taken to Regions Hospital.

Linders says it's too soon to tell if today's incident is connected to a fatal shooting Sunday night at Indian Mounds Park.

"It would be too early to speculate on what caused it or who did it," Linders said. "Officers are currently investigating and looking for any witnesses and seeking suspects."

St. Paul Police announced Monday they had arrested a 24-year-old Minneapolis man in the Sunday shooting.
