The new Vikings stadium hopes to hire thousands of workers this week, as it prepares to host the first events in August.

Stadium operator SMG holds the hiring fair at the Minneapolis Convention Center Tuesday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

"We are encouraging anyone who wants to work with any of our partners, whether it be food and beverage, security, guest service, retail. All have an opportunity to get interviewed in person," said Patrick Talty, general manager for US Bank Stadium.

Job seekers may also apply online before going to the Convention Center.

Talty said for typical Vikings games or other major events, the stadium has as many as 3,000 people on hand for everything from food service to cleaning.

"We've got great club spaces that we're renting out to individuals for weddings, bar mitzvahs, to corporate meetings, luncheons, dinners," Talty listed.

The first event scheduled for the stadium is an International Cup soccer game on Aug. 3. A Luke Bryan concert will be the stadium's first music event on Aug. 19, followed by a Metallica concert on Aug. 20.

The Vikings will first take the field against San Diego on Aug. 28. The regular season at the new downtown Minneapolis stadium begins against the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 18.
