Boy, 2, apparently drowns in Hennepin County holding pond

Authorities say a 2-year-old boy apparently drowned in a holding pond in suburban Minneapolis.

Hennepin County sheriff's deputies and Corcoran police were called around 4:20 p.m. after family members found the boy unresponsive in the pond.

Paramedics were unable to revive the boy. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Hennepin County medical examiner's office will release the boy's name and cause of death. The sheriff's office is investigating.
