Hiker hanging onto tree rescued on Barn Bluff in Red Wing

The Red Wing Fire Department rescued a person stranded on Barn Bluff Sunday afternoon.

The hiker was found hanging onto a tree about 25 feet above the base of the trail, according to a statement the department posted on its Facebook page.

The hiker had apparently fallen or stumbled from a higher trail. The person was not injured.

Firefighter and paramedics were at the scene within four minutes of a call reporting the stranded person at 2:22 p.m. Sunday. They climbed up a trail to lower the stranded person down in a rescue harness.
