Get used to seeing lots of "closed until" references in the Minnesota Department of Transportation's weekend road closures map.

The projects are mushrooming in the good weather. That means more orange cones and single lines. MnDOT's posted information on 18 projects across the Twin Cities metro area that you'll need to keep an eye, including one especially important for anglers heading for the Wisconsin fishing opener. Here's sampling of what to expect.

Interstate 494. I-494 between Interstate 394 and Interstate 94/Interstate 694 will see ramp and lane closures. Northbound I-494 ramps to and from Bass Lake Road are closing at 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Saturday.

Interstate 35E. Northbound I-35E north of St. Paul is now restricted to a single lane of traffic between County Road E and Goose Lake Road through late May. Minnesota Highway 96 is also reduced to a single lane of traffic between White Bear Parkway and Centerville Road in both directions through Late June. Yes, there are also ramp closures, too.

U.S. Highway 8. Those heading for western Wisconsin this weekend for that state's fishing opener take note: Highway 8 to Taylors Falls is closed in both directions between the south and north intersections of Minnesota Highway 95 until October.
