Literary dogs and the Little Free Library Festival

Saturday was the first-ever Little Free Library Festival, complete with libraries on wheels and literary canines. Several thousand people attended the festivities in Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis.

The Little Free Library phenomenon started in Hudson, Wis., in 2010, when Todd Bol built the first one at the end of his driveway in memory of his mother. Now there are more than 36,000 Little Free Libraries in 70 countries around the world.

Over the course of the day, volunteers helped build 104 new little libraries, which will be donated to communities in the Twin Cities and around the Midwest.
