Heading north from the Twin Cities this Memorial Day weekend? Be patient. Interstate 35E is down to a single lane of traffic in both directions. You'll also face single lane hassles on Interstate 94 around Collegeville, Minn.

Those may be the biggest challenges for drivers trying to navigate the roads this long weekend, but they won't be the only ones. The Minnesota Department of Transportation has a crowded road work map. Here are some of the biggest hassles drivers may face.

I-35E, Vadnais Heights. Both directions of I-35E restricted to a single lane of traffic between Country Road E and County Road J. Minnesota Highway 96 is reduced to a single lane of traffic between White Bear Parkway and Centerville Road in both directions through late June.

I-94, St. Cloud to Collegeville. With single-lane traffic 24/7 through the weekend. MnDOT's already warning that backups are possible on the eastbound stretch Sunday and Monday and delays should be expected as people return to the Twin Cities, especially between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Highway 100, west metro. So here's something: Minnesota Highway 100 is down to two lanes in each direction through late July from West 36th Street to Minnesota Highway 62. There'll be several other ramp closures, too. But two lanes are better than one.
