St. Paul police investigate fatal shooting

St. Paul police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man whose body was found in a parking lot.

Officers were called about 8 p.m. to a shooting in the 400 block of Lexington Avenue. An O'Reilly Auto Parts store and a Dairy Queen sit on the same corner.

Police found a man suffering an apparent gunshot wound. He wasn't believed to be an employee of the store, but the connection of the shooting to the businesses wasn't immediately clear.

St. Paul police sergeant Mike Ernster said there were no immediate arrests.

"Investigators are currently canvassing the neighborhood, speaking with witnesses and trying to get any information that will identity a suspect or suspects in this case," said Ernster.

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner is conducting an autopsy in the case and will identify the victim.
