Plotting that weekend getaway from St. Paul? You'll have to figure how to get out of town without Interstate 35E.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is shutting down both directions of the highway starting at 9 p.m. Friday on key stretches in and near St. Paul.

Those are likely the biggest hassles on MnDOT's weekend construction closure map but not the only ones.

I-35E, St. Paul. Yes, the highway will completely close in both directions between I-94 and Shepard Road from 9 p.m. through 5 a.m. Monday so construction crews can remove pavement from the St. Clair Avenue bridge so the deck can be repaired.
