Today's Morning Edition music is from "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down" by Kris Kristofferson from his new album of live recordings "The Cedar Creek Sessions."

He plays songs that he wrote, which were often made famous by other artists. Johnny Cash recorded a memorable version of this tune.

Today is Kristofferson's 80th birthday and he has a new lease on life. For several years he was being treated for Alzheimer's disease, but then a doctor determined his memory loss was actually caused by Lyme disease.

After switching medications, Kristofferson's memory problems mostly went away. He's starting a tour today and will be at Vetter Stone Amphitheater in Mankato on Tuesday.
