One person jumped out of the third-floor unit without help from firefighters, according to Dan Smith, Brooklyn Fire Department battalion chief of operations.

"Police and fire assisted a couple people out the windows and then we went in and extinguished the fire," Smith said.

Five people were treated and released at the scene and one person was hospitalized.

Smith said two children were treated for minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
