Woman dies after she's found shot in car in Minneapolis

A 19-year-old woman died after a shooting in north Minneapolis on Monday night.

Police received reports that someone had been shot on the 1800 block of Penn Avenue North at about 11:15 p.m.

Officers found the woman inside a car at the scene. Paramedics transported her to Hennepin County Medical Center, where she later died.

Police say other people were in the car at the time of the incident, but aren't yet releasing any more information about what led up to her death. The victim's name and exact cause of death will be released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.

Officers will be canvassing the neighborhood on Tuesday. Police officials urge anyone with information about the death to talk to police or text an anonymous tip to 847411.
