Small plane makes emergency landing on I-35 in Chisago Co.

A small, single-engine plane made an emergency landing on I-35 in Chisago County near Wyoming, Minn., Friday night.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the plane had been heading north, and landed in the southbound lanes of the highway around 10 p.m.

It clipped a light pole during the landing and came to rest in a ditch. The landing happened while the road was open and traffic was moving.

"Fortunately in this case, with the high travel day, nobody was injured," said the state patrol's Sgt. Troy Christianson.

"With all the vehicles on the roadway, no vehicles were involved. And the pilot just had minor injuries, so it was fortunate for everybody."

A section of the interstate was closed for two hours after the landing, but reopened around midnight.

The plane is registered to a man from Isanti County.
