Visitors walk past the main attraction of "The Star-Spangled Banner Gallery," the 30-by-34-foot flag that inspired Francis Scott Key to write the national anthem on Aug. 11, 2010, at the Smithsonian Institution's American History Museum in Washington, D.C. The "Star-Spangled Banner" flag is displayed in a special environmentally-controlled chamber and the first stanza of the national anthem is projected prominently on the wall above.
