As another school year gets underway, Minnesota's Teacher of the Year joined MPR News host Tom Weber to talk education.

Abdul Wright teaches eighth-grade language arts at Best Academy in Minneapolis. He's the 52nd recipient of the Minnesota Teacher of the Year award, and the first-ever charter school teacher to win it. The awards are sponsored by the teachers union Education Minnesota.

Wright offered his perspective on education issues in the news, and on what makes a top-notch teacher.
