St. Paul police are investigating the death of a man on St. Paul's North End early Thursday morning.

Officers responding to a report of a robbery on the 1200 block of Galtier Street North found a critically injured man outside a house at about 4 a.m. Paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene, according to police spokesperson Sgt. Mike Ernster.

Police are looking for a suspect last seen running northwest from the crime scene wearing dark-colored clothing.

"Our forensic services unit is on scene presently, processing for evidence," Ernster said. "Investigators are canvassing the neighborhood, attempting to locate witnesses and searching for the suspect."

Ernster said the victim did not live in the neighborhood. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner will release the victim's identity and cause of death.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call the department's homicide unit at 651-266-5650.
