Three shot in downtown Minneapolis

Police say three people were shot in downtown Minneapolis early Monday.

A Minneapolis police spokesperson said officers working off duty in city's entertainment district saw a person open fire about 2 a.m., near the Warehouse District light rail stop.

A man was shot in the back and a woman was shot in the hip. Both are expected to survive. One officer chased and caught the suspect and also recovered a gun.

About 20 minutes later, more shots were fired, about two blocks away, at 5th Street N. and 2nd Avenue N., between the Warehouse District and Target Field light rail stops.

Police found a man had suffered a grazing gunshot wound to the head. He is also expected to live. No arrests have been made, although police say they are reviewing security camera footage.

Investigators are asking anyone with any information on the shootings to contact police.
