Met Council chair discusses stopgap funding for Southwest light rail
The Metropolitan Council and other agencies last week approved funding that fills a gap in the Southwest light rail project, a train that would run from downtown Minneapolis out to Eden Prairie.
That funding was a way to keep the project alive while an state lawmakers remain at an impasse. A disagreement over Southwest light rail plan was the hiccup that kept several items from passing this year, including a overall transportation, bonding and tax bills.
Adam Duininck, head of the Metropolitan Council, joined MPR News host Tom Weber to talk about the future of the controversial Southwest light rail project.
