Star Tribune's Royce wins lifetime achievement honor at Iveys
This year the Ivey Awards' highest honor for theater professionals — the Lifetime Achievement Award — went to a critic.
Longtime Star Tribune theater critic and reporter Graydon Royce was recognized for his years of service to the community. Royce recently retired from the newspaper, although he continues to contribute reviews as a freelancer.
Trevor Bowen won the Emerging Artist Award for his work as a costume designer at several major Twin Cities theaters. Bowen got his start in the Twin Cities as a design assistant in the Guthrie Theater's costume shop less than five years ago.
Jasmine Hughes won an Ivey for her role as the daughter of two race revolutionaries in Penumbra Theatre's production of "Sunset Baby." Kevin Fanshaw and Charles Numrich walked away with Iveys for their performances in Theatre Coup d'Etat's "Equus."

Two productions received awards for their ensemble acting: The Guthrie Theater's cast of "Trouble in Mind" and New Epic Theater's cast of "Now or Later."
Warren C. Bowles garnered an Ivey for his direction of "The Tale of the Allergist's Wife" at the Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company. Victor Zupanc was heralded for his sound design and music in Children's Theatre Company's "Pinocchio." Kate Sutton-Johnson took home an Ivey for her set design for Theater Latte Da's production of "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street."
Three productions were recognized for their overall excellence: Jungle Theater's "Le Switch," Children's Theatre Company's "The Wizard of Oz" and History Theatre's "Glensheen."
An annual awards program established in 2004, the Iveys aims to increase public awareness of the theater community and celebrate its efforts.
