St. Paul man charged with ramming vehicle into gate of governor's residence

Ramsey County prosecutors have charged a St. Paul man with felony property damage after he allegedly rammed his vehicle into the front gate of the governor's residence on Summit Avenue.

Just before 10 p.m. Monday, 42-year-old Wondu Seifu broke open the east gate door and damaged the steel arm that connects to the gate's motor, authorities say.

A trooper posted to the residence saw the vehicle ram the gate and confronted Seifu as he walked up the driveway, according to the criminal complaint.

Troopers say when they checked Seifu for weapons, he began to weep uncontrollably and stripped to his underwear.

Authorities say Seifu was not armed, but allegedly told troopers that he was the victim of spiritual warfare attacks and wanted to speak with the governor.
