If you look at the 10 leading causes of death in America, there's been a promising trend: The death rates for heart disease, cancer, stroke and diabetes have been declining.
But there's one big exception: suicide.
Suicide rates overall have increased by 24 percent from 1999 to 2014, according to a new report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Middle-aged men have the highest rates of suicide.
Dan Reidenberg, executive director of Suicide Awareness Voices of Education looked at the reasons why the U.S. suicide rate continues to rise.
