Minnesota police chiefs work to make Mogadishu safer

This summer, Minnesota federal court found three young men guilty for plotting to join ISIS in Syria, and this month St. Cloud law enforcement agencies are investigating a possible link to the terror group in the St. Cloud shopping mall attacks.

As the investigation continues, community leaders expressed that enforcement agencies need to create stronger links to American Somali communities.

Two local police chiefs are are making those links in local and international Somali communities.

Chief John Harrington and Chief Hugo McPhee talked about their work with Somali communities here and in Mogadishu, and their attempt to assist Somali police in their fight against terrorist groups like al Shabab recruiting isolated American Somalis.
