"Teen Idol: The Bobby Vee Story" is currently playing at the History Theatre in St. Paul.
It's the story of Robert Velline who was born in 1943 in Fargo, N.D., and became famous as the pop star Bobby Vee.
He recorded 10 songs that made it into the Top 20 on the charts.
The show chronicles his career as a singer and actor. It also tells the story of the love of his life, Karen, and the onset of Alzheimer's disease in recent years.
His sons Jeff and Tommy were consultants in the creation of this production and spoke with MPR's Cathy Wurzer.
