A Minnesota Democrat facing a tough climb to unseat Republican Rep. Erik Paulsen is getting a hand from her party's standard bearer.

President Barack Obama was featured in a video released Wednesday promoting state Sen. Terri Bonoff's campaign for Congress. The 30-second spot mentions that Bonoff's son is one of the president's closest aides.

Obama also references her tenure in the state Legislature and says her brand of bipartisanship is direly needed in Washington, D.C.

Bonoff launched her campaign this spring and has sought to tie Paulsen to Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in the suburban Minneapolis district. But Paulsen is a popular, four-term Republican who has built up a major fundraising lead for his re-election bid.
