Friday night, the University of Minnesota women's volleyball team, ranked second in the nation, hosts No. 13 Michigan State at The Pavilion. 

It's the beginning of a series of matches over the next week in which the Gophers will face some of the top schools in the country.

MPR's Cathy Wurzer spoke with Howard Sinker, a digital sports editor for the Star Tribune, about the Gopher team.
