St. Paul attorney Earl Gray and Minneapolis attorney Paul Engh, both well-known criminal defense lawyers, have filed the paperwork to represent Jeronimo Yanez as his legal case starts moving through the court system Friday.

They're joining attorney Tom Kelly, who has been representing Yanez since shortly after the July 6 shooting.

All three attorneys are listed among the lawyers made available by the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association Legal Fund to dues paying members for no additional cost.

Defense attorney Joe Friedberg says the officer will have a strong defense, describing the attorneys as "three of the best lawyers in the country."

Yanez is set to make his initial court appearance on the charges Friday afternoon.
