Catering truck crashes through airport barrier, injuring two

Two people were injured after a catering truck crashed through a barrier at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and fell to the roadway below over the weekend.

The crash involving a LSG Sky Chefs truck occurred shortly before noon on Sunday near a tunnel that leads under Terminal 1, according to airport spokesperson Patrick Hogan.

Both people in the truck were able to get out on their own after the accident and were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Hogan said.

It took about five hours to clear the truck out of the roadway. The crash didn't affect travelers, but airport workers redirected airfield traffic around the truck until the crash was cleared.

Airport officials are investigating what may have caused the crash.
