Security guard fatally shoots man in alleged Eagan burglary attempt

Eagan police say a security guard shot and killed an armed man who allegedly attacked and tried to rob him.

The incident was reported just after midnight. Police responded to a call at a warehouse in the 900 block of Aldrin Drive where the security guard was working, and found the suspect dead from a gunshot wound.

According to police, the shooting took place in the parking lot and the armed suspect was wearing a mask at the time of the assault. It appears the security officer was acting in self defense.

Police have not identified the suspect or the security guard.

The security officer sustained minor injuries and didn't require medical attention.

Eagan police say they're not seeking any additional suspects and there is no threat to the public.
