It's a big time for sports in Minnesota Friday night.  

In St. Paul, the Wild take on the Edmonton Oilers at the Xcel Energy Center.  

Both U of M Gopher men's and women's hockey teams play, too.  

In basketball, the Minnesota Timberwolves tip off against the Detroit Pistons at 7 p.m. at Target Center.  

And then there's the fast-starting Gopher men's basketball team, which plays Georgia Southern at Williams Arena about an hour later.

MPR News' Cathy Wurzer spoke with Howard Sinker, a digital sports editor at the Star Tribune, about the 8-and-1 Gophers, as well as the university's women's basketball team, which won its game Thursday night.

It's a big time for sports in Minnesota tonight.  In St. Paul, the Wild take on the Edmonton Oilers at the X.  Both U of M Gopher men's and women's hockey teams play tonight too.
